DARIA TCHAPANOVA (*1983 in Haskovo, Bulgaria) is a Visual Artist living and working in Vienna. Her work is related to the idea of Art in Public Sphere, focusing on unconventional art spaces – abandon buildings, empty (ware-) houses and defective places in various geographic locations. Her work includes public interventions, installations, video, photography and collage. She uses „collage“ in various forms, technically and aesthetically, to experiment and to question viewing habits within the context of space. Her work is motivated by social issues. She holds an Master Fine Arts (MAPS- Master of Arts in Public Sphere) and has worked on public installations/ interventions in Vienna (AT), Bern (CH), Sofia (BG), Durban (ZA) and Johannesburg (ZA). She has exhibited in group shows a.o. at Gallery Lang Vienna (AT), SAMCA – Sofia Arsenal Museum of Contemporary Art (BG) and Witwatersrand University Johannesburg (ZA). And she joined Residence Programms in Lisbon (Hangar), Bag Factory Johannesburg (ZA) und Custom House Studios Westport (IRE).
