TOM HUGHES (American, born Buffalo, NY 1972)
Tom Hughes currently lives and works in Tacoma, WA. His dad is a poet. He tries to read difficult books. Hughes is a conceptual artist interested in story-telling, language, existential issues, and more.
He has exhibition credits throughout the United States and Europe. Solo exhibition venues include Rosenthal Gallery, College of Idaho, Idaho, USA; Outside Gallery, Louisiana, USA; and The Bridge Public Arts Initiative, Virginia, USA The Center on Contemporary Art, Seattle, USA. He has exhibited in group shows at Paratissima Torino, Italy; Kulturhuset Bronden, Copenhagen, Denmark; Herron Gallery, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, Indiana, USA; Albright-Knox Art Gallery, New York, USA; SCHoK – Schoorl, the Netherlands, Interstate Firehouse Cultural Center, Oregon, USA; Artetica Gallery, Rome, Italy. Hughes holds an MFA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and completed his Post-Baccalaureate Study at the School of the Fine Arts, Boston.
He recently abandoned plans to rebuild that old motorcycle. It wasn’t going to happen.
